What are degree apprenticeships?
A degree apprenticeship lets you earn a full undergraduate or master’s degree while working. These apprenticeships take about three to six years to complete, depending on the course.
You’ll spend most of your time working, with part-time study at university. For example, you might attend university one or two days a week, or in short blocks like a week at a time. On average, you’ll spend about 20% of your time studying and 80% working.
Degree apprenticeships are a bit different depending on where you are in the UK:
In England and Wales, degree apprenticeships are available, with the most options in England.
In Scotland, they’re called Graduate Apprenticeships.
In Northern Ireland, you can do higher level apprenticeships (HLAs), which offer qualifications up to Level 7 (equivalent to a master’s degree), though most are at Level 5, which is similar to a foundation degree.
