How can a mentor help you?

Our mentoring programme gives you the tools to explore life after school. By talking with a professional with experience in STEM careers, you have an expert who can give advice on careers in STEM and answer any questions you might have about the next steps in your journey.

What advice can a mentor give?

You will talk to your mentor via a secure and moderated mentoring platform text-based messaging over 10 weeks, covering topics such as:

  • life after school, including education at university, apprenticeships, or preparing for employment

  • STEM career options

  • Job hunting, applications and interviews

  • Study skills

  • Money, housing and independent living

  • Mental health and wellbeing

How does the mentoring work?

You can message their mentor at any time during a 10-week mentoring period. Conversations take place via text-based messaging, a bit like email, so mentors will reply as soon as they can. To keep you safe, conversations can only take place via the secure and moderated mentoring platform.

You will be matched with the mentor that is right for you, this might be because they have similar interests to you, a career path that would interest you, or the type of experience that makes them perfect to give you relatable advice.
